Our History

Horizonbreak has been at the forefront of specialized imaging technology for more than a decade, and in that time, we have worked with some of the most prominent research institutions in the world, and helped the most innovative companies reach further into the stars.

Our founder, Gloria Patterson, founded Horizonbreak in 2005, inspired by the images she saw beaming back to earth from the Cassini spacecraft. Those glorious images of Jupiter and Saturn confirmed a long held belief of hers – that clear, powerful images of space inspire wonder in people and drive them to expand their perceptions of the possible.

In small warehouse in the SoMa district of San Fransico, Patterson, along with a team of dedicated researchers, scientists and technicians, began building the technologies needed to ensure that more and more people would be exposed to the wonders of space, and Horizonbreak was born.

Since then, we have worked with all types of organizations, from forward thinking start ups to the largest government space programs in the world. By our conservative estimates, Horizonbreak’s technology has showcased the glory of space to at least 10 million people at this point. We can only hope our images are as inspiring as those of Cassini.
